Chelsea could see a substantial financial boost following recent transfer discussions. The club is reportedly open to offers for striker Nicolas Jackson in the current summer transfer window. Aston Villa has shown interest in acquiring Jackson, with sources indicating a potential transfer fee of around £65 million.

Jackson, 25, is expected to join Chelsea’s pre-season training, which includes a tour across four countries in the coming weeks. However, if a suitable offer materialises, Chelsea would not prevent his departure. The Senegal international spent the last season on loan with Bayern Munich, but the German club did not activate the appearance-based clause to make his move permanent.

Discussions involving Jackson arose during negotiations between Chelsea and Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers. Rogers is anticipated to move to Stamford Bridge on a six-year contract, with an option for an additional 12 months, following a £117 million agreement. This deal is noted as Chelsea’s highest ever.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery previously coached Jackson at Villarreal, and a strong mutual respect is understood to exist between them. The Villans are reportedly considering a formal offer for Jackson, who is said to be receptive to a move to Villa Park before the September 1 deadline, according to sources close to the player.

While Xabi Alonso is expected to assess Jackson during pre-season training, Chelsea would accept offers of £65 million for the striker. Despite Emery’s desire for a reunion, Aston Villa may be hesitant to meet such a high price, especially after Jackson’s inconsistent playing time during his loan spell in Munich.

Aston Villa had expressed interest in Jackson last summer, but Chelsea was unwilling to let him leave then. After a disagreement with former Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, Jackson was permitted to depart on a season-long loan.

Alejandro Garnacho’s Future and Financial Implications

Meanwhile, Manchester United is closely monitoring the future of winger Alejandro Garnacho, who appears poised to leave Chelsea. Aston Villa has reportedly submitted an official bid for Garnacho.

Garnacho moved from Manchester United to Stamford Bridge last summer in a £40 million transfer. The deal included a 10 per cent sell-on clause for United. However, Garnacho has reportedly struggled to make a significant impact at Chelsea.

Last season, he made 24 Premier League appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists. He was not included in Argentina’s World Cup squad this summer and has not participated in Chelsea’s pre-season preparations amidst speculation about his future.

Aston Villa, who are set to acquire Morgan Rogers from Chelsea in a £117 million deal, seems to be the primary interested party for the 22-year-old Garnacho. Reports suggest that Unai Emery’s side has sent an offer to Chelsea for an initial loan with a buy clause. Talks are also reportedly underway between Villa and Garnacho regarding personal terms.

The specific value of the buy clause has not been reported, but Chelsea has previously been said to have an asking price of £42 million. If Aston Villa’s offer is accepted and Garnacho agrees to the move, it could impact Manchester United’s finances this summer.

An initial loan deal would mean Manchester United would not immediately receive funds from the sell-on clause. If the eventual purchase price is close to Chelsea’s asking price, United could receive approximately £4.2 million less than anticipated this summer. Reports indicate the clause might be a conditional obligation to buy, which could further delay or even prevent United from receiving funds if conditions are not met next summer.

Any additional funds from a deal for Garnacho would be beneficial for United in relation to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR). As an academy graduate, any money generated from his transfer would be considered pure profit for the club.

Manchester United has already benefited from a sell-on clause this summer, having included a 40 per cent clause in the deal that saw Mason Greenwood move to Marseille in 2024. Greenwood’s subsequent move from the French club to Fenerbahce for around £33.2 million resulted in United receiving approximately £13.3 million, though some of this will reportedly go to Getafe as part of a 2023 loan agreement.
