The recent Puducherry assembly elections have culminated in a decisive victory for the AINRC-led NDA, which claimed 18 out of 30 seats despite a robust challenge from the INDIA bloc. This outcome not only underscores the political landscape of Puducherry but also highlights the electorate’s sentiments as they navigated a complex array of choices.

N Rangasamy, the incumbent chief minister and founder of AINRC, retained his position by winning the Thattanchavady constituency by a margin of 4,441 votes. He also triumphed in Mangalam constituency. Yet, several prominent candidates faced defeat, including R Selvam and V P Ramalingame—indicative of shifting allegiances among voters.
