Weather Conditions in Srinagar

On March 10, 2026, Srinagar and several other regions of Jammu and Kashmir were lashed by overnight rains. The Meteorological Centre Srinagar reported that the region is likely to witness generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall over higher reaches at many places.

As the day progressed, the meteorological department predicted more precipitation over the next few days. Heavy rain is expected over the plains of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora districts, while moderate to heavy snowfall is possible in higher reaches, including the Sonamarg-Zojila axis, Sinthan top, Sadhna top, Razdan top, and Peer ki Gali.

From March 10 to 11, generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall over higher reaches are anticipated. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 3.3 degrees Celsius, and day temperatures are expected to fall by four to six degrees Celsius at many places after March 9.

Farmers in the region have been advised to suspend farm operations between March 10 and 12 due to the adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the department has issued an advisory warning of temporary traffic disruption over higher reaches and important mountain passes due to snowfall.

Thunder and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are also possible at a few places between March 9 and 11, further complicating the weather situation. Residents and travelers are urged to remain cautious during this period.

Looking ahead, the meteorological department has indicated that weather conditions are expected to improve from March 12 to 15, with generally dry weather and occasional cloudiness. This shift may provide some relief after the recent spell of rain and snow.

The current weather patterns are significant for the local population, especially farmers who rely on stable conditions for their crops. The advisories issued highlight the importance of preparedness in the face of changing weather conditions.

As the situation develops, local authorities and residents will need to stay informed about weather updates and heed any advisories to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
