For the last two years, over 20 lakh students have been registering for the NEET UG exam, the sole gateway for aspiring medical students in India. This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken a significant step by releasing the exam city intimation slips for NEET UG 2026, which is set to take place on May 3, 2026, from 2 PM to 5 PM.
Candidates can now check and download their examination city intimation slip from the official NEET website, neet.nta.nic.in, using their application number and date of birth. However, it is crucial to note that this slip is not the admit card; it merely serves as an advance notice regarding the city where the examination center will be located.
As the NTA clarified, “This is not the admit card for NEET UG 2026. It is only an advance intimation regarding the city where your examination centre will be located.” The official admit card is expected to be released three to four days before the exam, providing candidates with their specific examination venue.
The NEET UG exam is a critical assessment for students aiming to secure seats in undergraduate medical courses across India. In 2024, a staggering 24,06,079 candidates registered for the exam, reflecting the increasing competition and interest in medical education. In comparison, 20,87,462 candidates registered in 2023, and 18,72,343 in 2022, showcasing a steady rise in applicants.
With the release of the city intimation slip, students can now begin planning their travel and accommodation arrangements. An official stated, “Exam city slip helps students plan travel and accommodation,” emphasizing the importance of this information in the lead-up to the exam.
The NEET UG 2026 paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions, divided into 45 questions each from physics and chemistry, and 90 questions from biology. This structure remains consistent with previous years, ensuring that candidates are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
As the exam date approaches, students are encouraged to stay updated on further announcements from the NTA, particularly regarding the release of the admit card. With the anticipation building, the focus now shifts to the preparations that candidates will undertake in the coming weeks.
