In a groundbreaking move for electric vehicles, the Technology Development Board (TDB) has partnered with InfinityX Innovations Private Limited to establish automated battery swapping infrastructure in Telangana. Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary of the TDB, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Accelerating the deployment of efficient and scalable charging alternatives is critical for the growth of India’s electric mobility ecosystem.” The automated, IoT-enabled battery swapping stations are expected to pave the way for a standardized and interoperable battery swapping network across the nation.
In addition to this technological advancement, the Telangana government is introducing a first-of-its-kind initiative that offers discounts of up to 20% on electric two- and four-wheelers for state government employees. This initiative could lead to savings of up to Rs 4 lakh per employee, benefiting approximately 5 lakh government employees throughout the state.

For instance, Germany and France reported battery electric vehicle (BEV) market shares of 22% and 27% respectively in early 2026, while Denmark saw a remarkable increase of 17 percentage points in its BEV market share compared to the previous year.
